Star Registration is a personalized-gift brand founded in 2011, built around the idea of connecting meaningful occasions with the night sky. Through its online service, customers can dedicate and symbolically name stars, create personalized certificates and star maps, and use digital tools to locate their chosen star, turning astronomy-inspired experiences into keepsakes for celebrations and personal memories.

About Star Registration

Star-Registration.com was founded in 2011 by Marc Mayr, who began developing the business while he was a student. According to the company, the project started as a small venture in his parents’ living room, combining his interests in astronomy and technology with the idea of creating a personalized gifting experience around the night sky.

The business subsequently expanded internationally, reaching more than ten countries by 2015 according to its official history. Its service developed beyond printed certificates to include digital access, star-location tools and a dedicated planetarium app designed to help recipients identify the star associated with their gift.

What Star Registration Offers

Star Registration offers several types of personalized star-naming gift packages, including options centered on a single star, a star within a selected constellation and binary-star packages. The accompanying materials can include a personalized certificate, star map, information sheet, registration details, presentation folder and access to the company’s planetarium app.

The company also provides digital gift cards and corporate gifting services, extending the personalization concept to individual occasions as well as employee and client gifts.

For accuracy, these commercial star names should be understood as symbolic registrations rather than official astronomical names. The International Astronomical Union does not recognize commercial star-naming services as official naming mechanisms.
