Building a Career in Gulf Music
Shams began pursuing music professionally around the end of the 1990s. After signing with Renad Audio, she released Habbib Al Ward in 2001, an album rooted in Gulf music and the beginning of a catalogue that would keep her active in the Arab music industry for years.
Her second album, Sabaa Marrat, followed in 2002. By 2005 she had released Muzahara Nisa’iya, and her output continued through projects including Shams 2007, Jalsat Shams, Sabahak Khair and Shaqeit Thobi.
The catalogue matters because it shows a career built over successive album cycles rather than around one viral single. Shams remained associated with Gulf music while gradually testing different production styles, subjects and Arabic dialects.
Moving Beyond One Musical Dialect
A notable part of Shams’s career has been her willingness to record beyond a strictly Khaleeji identity.
Her 2007 period included releases aimed at both Gulf and Egyptian Arabic audiences, giving her music a broader regional reach and making dialect-switching part of her artistic identity rather than a later experiment.
That flexibility continued in later work. In 2025, she released the Egyptian-dialect song Tuzz, which had passed two million YouTube views by July of that year. Shams described the song as closely reflecting her own personality and attitude.
From Music to Acting
Acting was not originally a central part of Shams’s career.
She appeared as a guest in the Saudi comedy series Hyperloop in 2019, but a more substantial acting step came with the 2023 historical drama Serr El Batea, where she played Ibtisam.
The series was directed by Khaled Youssef and featured an extensive Egyptian and Arab cast.
Shams later explained that she had not been planning to pursue acting and that Khaled Youssef had spent time persuading her to take the role. She eventually connected with Ibtisam’s bold personality, which helped convince her to accept the part.
That makes Serr El Batea more than a celebrity cameo in her career record: it was a deliberate move into dramatic acting after years in music and television appearances.
By Shams: From Artist to Fragrance Entrepreneur
Shams has also built a business outside entertainment through By Shams, a fragrance project centered on a collection of 12 perfumes inspired by the zodiac signs.
According to the brand’s official site, Shams personally supervised the development, experimentation and testing behind the collection and worked with European perfumers on the fragrances.
Each perfume is presented around a different zodiac identity, combining scent with the brand’s wider astrology-inspired concept.
The project gives Shams a direct business identity rather than simply a celebrity endorsement relationship. By Shams is tied to her own name and creative direction, making it an important connected entity within her Famousi profile.
A Career That Continues to Evolve
Shams’s career now spans several distinct areas: recording, live performance, television, acting and entrepreneurship.
Her long music catalogue remains the foundation, but projects such as Serr El Batea and By Shams show how her public identity has widened beyond the traditional role of a Gulf singer.
She also continues to appear in live entertainment and major Arab media programmes, including an extended 2025 interview on LBCI’s Al Masar.
The result is a career that has remained visible across changing generations of Arab media without depending on a single format.
